"Day return to Swinton"

Work in progress.
I am working with the poet Ruth Midgeley on a project depicting the ten mile railway journey from Sheffield to Swinton, along the Don valley. The aim is to illustrate the landscape en route but also to suggest a journey through the seasons.
The only restriction we have set is that the photographs must have in them some part of the railway, track, buildings etc though not necessarily trains. Or that the picture should show someplace visible from the train, although not necessarily photographed from the train. The pictures will endeavour to illustrate the landscape of "regeneration",contemporary notions of modernity and particularly try to represent how "the past" appears in the present.
The route will reflect the journey today by train and tram and the same journey in the 1950's when two separate rail routes (and a total of 19 stations) were operating.
We aim to publish the results late in 2010.
In the meantime here are some photographs that may or may not make it to the final selection
